SHARI VON LIEBLER
Parish Secretary
I was born in Connecticut, raised in both Bloomfield - an “all American city” - and Hartford. I am the fifth of five children and have four older brothers. Although we didn’t attend church on a regular basis, there was always a deep faith and belief in God. My family has a German ancestry and strong beliefs were passed down through the generations, the belief in God came from them.
Most recently, I lived in Marlborough, Conn., on Lake Terramuggus for 22 years. It was there that my spiritual roots began to grow. Several years ago, I was summoned to visit my town’s book repository. It was there that I unexpectedly found a prayer book, brand new and right on top of the pile. I believed that this was a directive of God, since I had been wondering how to pray properly and wasn't sure how to do it. My relationship with God grew in ways that were surprising and abundant.
A passage I like is from Isaiah 55:8-9. “For my thoughts are not your thoughts nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
In my free time, I enjoy the beach, hiking, Tai kwon do, tennis, biking and kayaking. I’m also studying the German language and hope to visit Germany soon.
